Broken, buggy or half-finished websites

Website fixes for the thing that should already work

We fix websites for businesses and agencies across Canada and the United States, including sites we didn't build. Send mwe@hehe.software a description of what's broken, the affected page and any deadline, or use the contact form. We'll review the problem, confirm availability and scope the next step.

Website fixes, properly.

Broken, slow, outdated or inaccessible — we fix it.

01

Start with the problem you can see

A form submits but no message arrives. A navigation menu disappears on a phone. Checkout stops after a theme update. You don't need to diagnose the cause before asking us to fix your website. Describe what you expected and what happened instead.

Website bug fixing starts by reproducing that behavior and tracing where it fails. The cause might be in the page code, a plugin, hosting settings or an outside service. We identify the parts we can change and flag anything that needs action from your host or another provider.

02

Typical website repair requests

A repair can be a single fault or a list of unfinished tasks. For a half-finished build, we review what's present, what's missing and what needs to work before launch. Useful requests include:

  • Forms that reject valid entries, show unclear errors or fail to deliver messages.
  • Mobile layouts with overlapping text, cropped buttons or menus that won't open.
  • A WordPress fix for a plugin conflict, broken template or editor issue after an update.
  • A Shopify fix for product variants, cart behavior or theme layout problems, within the platform's available controls.
  • JavaScript errors, failed API calls or payment integrations that stop a user from completing a task.
  • Missing images, broken links, redirect loops or pages lost during a migration.
  • Unfinished components, inconsistent page templates or deployment errors holding up a launch.

03

From first email to a tested handoff

First, we establish the impact: which visitors are affected, which task is blocked and whether there is a temporary workaround. If you need an emergency website fix, say that in your first message. We confirm whether we have capacity before you plan around us; an email alone doesn't book an urgent response.

Next, we review the available code and access. A clear, bounded repair can move to a quote or hourly estimate. If the cause is still unknown, paid discovery can define the problem and proposed work before a larger repair is agreed.

Before changing a live site, we agree on a backup or rollback route and use a test environment where available. We make the repair, check the original failure and test nearby behavior that the change could affect. Handoff covers what changed, how it was checked and any remaining dependencies.

04

The platform shapes the repair

We work with custom websites, WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace and Wix, plus web apps built with Next.js, React and TypeScript. The first question is what your existing setup allows. A hosted builder may expose settings and templates but keep other behavior outside your control.

Depending on the fault, investigation can involve browser developer tools, network requests, application logs, theme or plugin settings and the source repository. For an integration issue, we check the request, response and error handling. For a layout problem, we check the affected screen sizes and browsers. We scope the repair around your existing stack.

05

What to send, and when we're a fit

When you hire a developer to fix a website, a reproducible example helps more than a long technical brief. Send the affected page, steps to trigger the problem, a screenshot or error message, your device and browser, and when it last worked. Mention recent updates, your platform, the deadline and who currently manages the site.

Tell us whether you have hosting, platform and code access, plus a recent backup. Don't put passwords in the first email; we can identify the access needed after reviewing the request.

This service suits owners with a specific blocker, marketers with a launch snag and agencies needing a repair sub-project, white-label or credited. It isn't a fit for round-the-clock incident coverage or work that requires access nobody can provide. A broader rebuild needs its own scope.

We also build and maintain our own products

hehe.software is a small, independent studio based in Vancouver. We design, build and maintain our own products end to end, including nine apps live on the App Store and this hand-built static website, with its WebGL hero, video and structured data.

Our products include Rain, Moonflower and Broski. They are our own work, and the apps demonstrate native development and App Store submissions. This website is our direct web example. We take on a small number of projects at a time, so you work directly with the people doing the work.

Ways to work with us

Built by us

We don’t show client logos. We show what we build and run ourselves — nine apps on the App Store, and this site.

Questions

Do we need to know what caused the bug?

No. Send the affected page, what you expected and what happened instead. A screenshot or short recording can help, along with the time the problem started. We use that to reproduce the fault and define the investigation.

Can you repair a site without taking over the whole project?

Yes. We can take a defined bug or unfinished task beside the current developer. Access, a backup or rollback route and the person approving release need to be clear. The handoff includes what changed and how the repair was checked.

Can you work with our existing developer or agency?

Yes. We take repair sub-projects on a white-label or credited basis. We agree on responsibilities, code access and who deploys the change so work doesn't collide.

Can you maintain the site after the fix?

Yes, maintenance and ongoing work can be scoped through a monthly retainer. Occasional fixes can also be handled hourly. We agree on the coverage separately from the initial repair.

How do you quote website fixes?

Pricing is quote-only: we scope the work and provide a fixed quote or an hourly estimate. If investigation is needed before the repair can be defined, we can start with paid discovery. Additional problems found during the work are discussed before expanding the agreed scope.

Tell us what needs doing.

A short email is enough: what you have, what’s wrong or missing, and when you need it. We reply with questions or a plan.
