Fixes, Velo, speed, and leaving
To fix a Wix website, name one page and the wrong result: a form mailing an old inbox, a repeater blocked by permissions, DNS aimed at the old host, or a slug with no 301. Single and group redirects go in the URL Redirect Manager. A custom domain needs a plan that allows one. We read DNS before changing it.
Keep API keys in the Secrets Manager and call them from a web method, not from page code or masterPage.js. Another server uses http-functions.js. jobs.config runs in UTC, on the published site only. A data hook can reject a bad row. New files are .web.js, each method limited to the owner, a site member, or anyone. Old .jsw files still run.
Wix's own scripts stay. We can still remove huge images, extra fonts, video backgrounds, and app scripts on every URL.
To migrate from Wix, rebuild the pages. Wix does not export the design, and the site runs only on Wix servers. Collections export as CSV. The product CSV holds up to 5,000 rows and skips digital downloads. Contacts export as CSV, up to 50,000, and only the owner can run it. Uploaded images and videos come from the Media Manager. Wix and Shutterstock stock do not. We check the blog and note the gap. Export redirects before DNS moves, then rebuild them on WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce, Webflow, Squarespace, or Next.js, and do not point stray URLs at the homepage. A domain bought at Wix can be locked for 60 days after registration, a transfer, or a registrant-contact change. We schedule around that lock and do not advise on the transfer.
