Technical SEO: find the problem, fix the site

We investigate and fix the technical problems behind pages that are hard to crawl, missing from search or slow to load. Send your site address and the problem you are seeing to mwe@hehe.software, or use the contact form. We will review the scope and propose a way forward.

Technical SEO, properly.

Broken, slow, outdated or inaccessible — we fix it.

01

Start with the pages that matter

A technical SEO audit starts with your important pages, visitor needs and recent changes. Then we inspect crawlability, indexing signals, internal links, page responses and rendered content. For indexing issues, we compare affected pages with working examples and review the available Search Console evidence.

The deliverable is a prioritized set of findings with affected pages or templates, supporting evidence and proposed fixes. We separate confirmed problems from questions that need more access or investigation. You can scope implementation with us or take the findings to your existing developer.

02

Concrete jobs we can take on

Typical requests include investigating why product pages disappeared after a theme change, old links broke during a migration or the sitemap includes removed pages. We investigate before deciding how widely the fix needs to apply.

  • Review robots.txt, noindex directives and canonical tags against the pages you intend to make searchable.
  • Repair broken internal links, redirect loops and chains; map moved pages to relevant destinations.
  • Clean up sitemap generation and check its entries against current page responses and intended canonical pages.
  • Investigate duplicate page variants from filters, parameters or inconsistent URL handling.
  • Check whether important text and navigation appear in rendered pages on JavaScript-driven sites.
  • Trace slow loading to images, scripts, fonts or server responses, then scope the changes.

03

Structured data and speed, checked in context

We review existing structured data and implement schema markup that matches the page and the business facts you supply. That includes checking for conflicting output from themes, plugins and custom code. We validate representative pages and check the generated markup after deployment. Invented ratings, reviews and business details have no place in the work.

Speed work starts with measurements on the templates people actually use. We investigate the loading sequence, propose specific changes and compare the same pages afterward. A smaller image is useful; a broken product gallery is less useful. Checks should include the interactions affected by each change, such as navigation, forms and checkout.

04

From first email to handoff

Send the site address, a few affected pages, when the problem started and what changed around that time. Include your platform, your main concern and any launch deadline. Search Console screenshots or exports help with scoping.

We agree on access, deliverables and a fixed quote or hourly estimate. If the problem is too uncertain to scope responsibly, paid discovery can come first. Before implementation, we define the changes, checks and release process, including a way to reverse changes where needed.

We test the agreed fixes, check the live implementation and hand over a change summary with verification evidence. The handoff identifies remaining issues, anything awaiting further observation and who handles follow-up. Technical checks and subsequent search performance are recorded separately; we do not promise rankings.

05

Tools chosen for your site

The investigation can use Search Console, URL Inspection, a site crawler, browser developer tools, PageSpeed Insights and structured data validators. We also inspect source code, response headers and server logs where access permits. Automated findings need review against the actual page and its purpose before they become work items.

We work on custom websites, WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace and Wix, plus Next.js and React applications. The implementation depends on the platform: template code, CMS settings, routing, hosting configuration or an integration. Where a hosted platform limits a change, we identify that constraint in the scope.

06

Who this work suits

This service suits owners with a specific website problem, marketers who need technical findings implemented and agencies needing help with part of a project. We take fix-it jobs on sites we did not build and agency sub-projects on a white-label or credited basis.

Link-building campaigns and ongoing editorial production are outside this service. If those are your main needs, this scope will not cover them. For technical work, prepare a list of priority pages and identify who controls the domain, hosting, CMS and code repository. Arrange account invitations when needed rather than sending passwords in the first email.

Our own products are the proof we can show

hehe.software is a small, independent studio based in Vancouver, working remotely across Canada and the United States. We design, build and maintain our own products end to end, including nine apps live on the App Store. Those are owned products, not client case studies.

This website is our own hand-built static site, with structured data and a sitemap. We take on a small number of projects at a time, so you work directly with the people doing the work.

Ways to work with us

Built by us

We don’t show client logos. We show what we build and run ourselves — nine apps on the App Store, and this site.

Questions

Can you investigate pages missing from Google?

Yes. We check crawl access, indexing instructions, canonical choices, internal links and the affected templates. Search Console access helps connect those checks to the reports for your site. The finding separates an implementation problem from a decision Google makes about indexing or ranking.

Does schema markup secure a rich result?

No. Structured data must match visible content and the requirements for a supported search feature. Valid markup does not promise that Google will display it. We check the current feature documentation before adding markup solely for a search appearance.

Can you work with our developer or agency?

Yes. We can investigate a defined problem, prepare implementation tasks or take on the fixes as a sub-project. We agree on who changes the code, who reviews it and who deploys before work begins.

Do we need ongoing maintenance?

A contained fix can be scoped as a standalone job. For ongoing work, we offer hourly help or a monthly retainer. We can define recurring checks around releases, redirects, sitemap output and Search Console findings, with clear responsibilities for acting on issues.

How do you quote the work?

Pricing is quote-only, based on the site, the problem and the agreed deliverables. We can provide a fixed quote for defined work or an hourly estimate for fixes and smaller jobs. When investigation is needed first, we can scope paid discovery separately from implementation.

Tell us what needs doing.

A short email is enough: what you have, what’s wrong or missing, and when you need it. We reply with questions or a plan.
